GCRT Calls for Help

On 7th of August the escalation of Georgian and breakaway region South Ossetia conflict grew into the Russian-Georgian war. Many villages and cities were devastated. At this point around 30 000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) are spread over the Georgia and the number is permanently increasing. Georgian government reports to have around 1500 wounded in Tbilisi hospitals only; most of them are civilians, among them children.

GCRT started working immediately with IDPs,  has visited various schools and kindergartens, conducted a rapid needs assessment collected medications clothes and other basic things and brought humanitarian aid to IDPS.  and started crisis intervention.

For the moment GCRT is also involved in helping the displaced in  solving residential problems.

Apart from this GCRT has elaborated training modules for helpers and is ready to train volunteers and will start supervising and coordinating their work in the field.

This situation demands to involve more professionals, paraprofessionals and volunteers. Therefore there is a financial need to broaden the scope of mental health service and crisis intervention. GCRT calls for help to donors and individual persons.
